A BEAUTIFUL Victorian garden with breathtaking views has been restored to its past grandeur. These one-and-a-half acre gardens on the western slopes of the Malvern Hills command spectacular views of Hay Bluff.

They will open their many botanical treasures to the public between 2pm and 5pm on Sunday, June 15.

The gardens, which are constantly undergoing work and further restoration, have striking period features which include a 35 metres herbaceous border, a rhododendron area, sunken garden and a children's garden with fedge and roundhouse.

The roundhouse, made from weaving together willow branches, is transformed in the summer as the leaves grow, turning it into a green tepee for children to play in.

A zip wire, climbing frame and trampoline make the garden a haven for children but adults can also sit and take in the tranquil atmosphere.

The garden is shaded by two giant redwoods and a deodara cedar.

Other plants include magnolias, azaleas, crinodendron hookerianum, gunnera, fig and vine.

Diana Morgan, who has helped the place to blossom once again, said: "We have tried to keep it more or less as it was in Victorian times.

"One of the best things about the garden are the views. We're quite high up on the Malverns and you can look over to Hay Bluff.

"I do enjoy the garden enormously. I'm planning what to do next all the time."

Diana and husband Roger Morgan have been in the process of restoring the place for the last five years.

All proceeds from entry go to the National Garden Scheme which then divides the money between eight charities.
