2:44pm Monday 9th June 2008

PERSHORE Seconds were deserved winners after a high-scoring Crusader Worcestershire League Division One clash at Barnards Green.

After winning the toss, Green batted first and their skipper declared on 262-7 with two overs remaining.

Lewis Hooper (70), Paul Yorke (54) and J Curtis (52) were all among the runs for the Malvern side.

In reply, Pershore produced a superb batting performance led by Mark Stevens (150 not out) and Steve Meers (76).

They passed the required total for the loss of six wickets with just four balls left of the invaluable two overs forfeited by the home side.

In Division Six, Pershore Thirds produced an emphatic seven-wicket win over Old Hill at Eckington.

After winning the toss, skipper Jason Brown invited the visitors to bat and his bowlers, led by Charlotte Holtham, justified his decision.

They bowled out Old Hill for 89 with Holtham taking four wickets alongside two each for Mike Bunn and Sam Cross.

In reply, Pershore easily reached the required total with 20 overs to spare and Cross (48) top-scored.

There was a Division Nine run-feast but Pershore Fourths were on the receiving end at West Malvern Seconds.

Batting first, the home side took full advantage of a young attack and scored 273-5 before declaring.

Paul Smith (99) and Jeff Barnes (61) scored the bulk of the runs.

Pershore could only muster 111 before their innings closed after 36 overs.
