Weather and the Countryside Part 1 Weather and the Countryside Part 1

Our climate is extremely varied and fickle across the British Isles but it is this variability which makes our weather one of the best in the world.

The four seasons bring us wonderful changes in our weather with each season being unique and interesting. Although I tend to love the spring when usually Mother Nature brings everything back into tune with fresh lush light green growth and the scented air from wild flower meadows, the other three seasons are also just as fabulous in their own right. If you study the climate over a long period of time, you will find that one seasons weather can influence the next and so on. By summer the lush light green foliage turns to a harsher darker green. The spring flowers fade as the summer flowers take over creating a lovely canopy of colour. Then autumn arrives, the days grow shorter, the nights colder and longer, less sunlight is on offer, the foliage takes on a wonderful colouration, before softly gliding to the forest floor creating a mantle of leaves. Through the long period of winter the deciduous trees remain bare and lifeless, the countryside looks barren. Then the longer warmer days arrive and everything springs back into life the annual cycle repeated. Next Week......Weather and the Countryside Part 2.
