The owners of a Worcester chippy have spoken of their shock after the window of their shop was smashed.

The attack on Malko’s Fish Bar, on the corner of Lichfield Avenue in Ronkswood, happened at about 11pm on Tuesday, June 13.

CCTV footage shows a man in a hooded top striking the window before running away.

Owner Ilir Malko said the damage will cost in the region of £3,500 to fix.

“I’ve run this shop for three years and been in this country for 24 years - and have never had any problems,” said Mr Malko, who is originally from Albania.

“We’ve found most people in Worcester to be friendly and helpful.

“I don’t know why someone would do this. If anyone has an issue with me - if it’s a customer who has a problem - they can just come and talk to me.”

Mr Malko’s wife Fatushe said neighbours and other shopkeepers walking past the chip shop on Wednesday morning had called her to tell her what happened.

“I was getting the children ready for school,” she said. “It’s a good community here.

“For something like this to happen, it’s not nice. I just keep wondering why.”

Paramsothy Velupillai runs News N Booze, a newsagent just a couple of doors down from the chip shop.

He said he is worried his shop will be next.

“I have had people coming in shoplifting and the police don’t respond properly. I do worry what’s next.”
