1. A makeshift essential oil spray can help keep spiders away
Mixing essential oils in with water and spraying the solution around your car can be a good natural deterrent.
Scents such as peppermint, cedar, lavender and eucalyptus are all recommended.
2. Add some cinnamon sticks to your car door
Although this may sound very strange, apparently a smell that spiders do not like is cinnamon.
With the festive season just around the corner, why not get into the spirit early with some cinnamon sticks in your car doors?
3. Buy a citrus car air freshener
It's said that spiders aren’t a fan of citrus or citronella, so air fresheners with these scents are another good option to deter spiders.
Vanarama advises to ensure that the air fresheners are not in your direct eyeliner to distract you from driving.

4. Keep your car clean – both in and out
It can be easy to let rubbish fill up inside your car, and cars can easily get dirty on the outside as well.
Spiders, and also flies, can be attracted to any food mess that could be lingering around your vehicle.
For the exterior of your car, watch for cobwebs that may form on wing mirrors.
5. Use white vinegar to clean your car and stop spiders
White vinegar is a great natural and cheap method for making sure your car is clean. You can leave it in a small bowl in the car to neutralise odours, while also giving a smell the spiders won’t enjoy.
You can also use white vinegar spray whilst cleaning the interior of your car, and a citrus air freshener to combat any smells that may remain.
6. Make sure your doors and boot are closed fully
It may sound obvious, but ensuring that doors and windows are fully closed when you aren’t in your car will also stop spiders from entering.
If you are working on your car, whether this be cleaning or maintenance, make sure you close any doors or windows you aren’t using.
