Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday both take place this weekend with events taking place across the county.

There will be remembrance services taking place in Worcester, as well as in towns and villages around the county.

We’ve rounded up a few of the services taking place on Saturday and Sunday (November 11-12).

Worcester city centre

Worcester’s traditional Remembrance Day parade will take place on Remembrance Sunday, following the usual format.

9am Parade of military, cadets and veterans from Cornmarket to the Cathedral

9.40am Procession of civic dignitaries from the Guildhall to the Cathedral

10am Service at the Cathedral

11am Laying of wreaths at the Memorial outside the Cathedral

11.40am Parade back to Cornmarket

Claines

A Remembrance service is taking place at St John the Baptist Church, Claines on Sunday, supported by local Scouts, Guides and led by the Stourport Band.

The event starts with a parade to Claines Church for wreath laying at the War Memorial followed by a Remembrance Service in church. The parade sets off from the corner of St Anne’s Road at 10.20am.

After the service, the parade returns to the Claines Royal British Legion Club in Cornmeadow Lane, which opens its doors to the public. This year the Community Voices choir based in Claines will be singing at the club.

St John’s

A service of remembrance for soldiers that have fallen in war, for Remembrance Sunday, is being held at St John in Bedwardine Church at 9.55am on Sunday, November 12.

Malvern

On Saturday, November 11, there will be an Armistice cross laying service at Great Malvern Priory at 10.40am.

On Sunday, November 12, there will be a Remembrance Service at the Priory at 10am, followed by a parade to the war memorial at Great Malvern Library, where a wreath-laying service will take place at 11am.

The parade will leave the church at about 10.45am and march down Church Street and into Graham Road.

Droitwich

A service is taking place on Saturday at the war memorial in Victoria Square, with residents asked to gather at 10.40am ahead of the service starting at 10.45am.

On Remembrance Sunday, the traditional parade meets at the Westcroft pub at 10.40am and arrives at Victoria Square about 10 minutes later. The service is expected to last about half and hour.
