Norton Theatre Group is starting 2024 hunting for lost jam tarts in its new production of Alice in Wonderland.

This Worcestershire-based group has been performing tales filled with good versus evil, heroes and villains for audiences since 1986.

Chris Bennion, who has written scripts for the group since 2014, said: "With a diverse cast of 22 people, young and old, experienced and rookies, we thought Alice in Wonderland was a great script as there are so many characters – meaning that everyone gets a chance to have a speaking role. And search for the tarts."

Another pivotal figure of the production is Sarah Bennion, a co-director who’s been a part of almost every panto with the group since she was six years old.

She said: "If the Queen doesn’t get her jam tarts, we’ll all lose our heads. Which is pretty drastic just after Christmas!"

Paul Jones, a co-director of the group who will be filling the shoes of the Queen of Hearts, highlighted the theatrical affect the tarts add to the play.

"Whilst most people watch their waistline in the New Year, I can’t get enough of them.

"In fact, I eat so many I’m fit to pop.

"The explosive scene in Act 2 is one you can’t miss."

The Alice in Wonderland performances will take place at the Norton Parish Hall in Littleworth from Thursday, January 11 to Saturday, January 13 at 7.15pm.

There will also be a matinee at 2pm on the Saturday.

The theatre group extends an invitation to be part of the fun and help locate the missing jam tarts.
