CONCERNS have been raised after a Worcestershire village has been flooded with raw sewage.

Videos show Plough Road in Tibberton being almost filled with brown sewage and pools filling up in residents' gardens.

However, it is not the first time sewerage has flooded the village near Droitwich.

This time last year, the two pumps failed at Severn Trent's Plough Road pumping station, causing sewage to pour out following heavy rainfall.

Worcestershire county councillor for Tibberton, Marc Bayliss, said: "It is a really horrible situation, and I really feel for residents.

"I am very concerned.

"The weather situation has been ridiculous and outraged in the past week.

"A lot of areas in my patch have been struggling with the weather.

"I am looking to investigate what more can be done - we (the county council) will definitely do everything we can to help residents.

Severn Trent said it is dealing with more calls than usual due to customers being impacted by Storm Henk.

Danielle Bates, catchment lead at Severn Trent, said: "Following Storm Henk, we've been dealing with a higher than average number of calls from customers impacted by the torrential rain that hit Worcester.

"Our teams are working hard to get to everyone quickly, and we have a team scheduled to visit Plough Road today (Wednesday).

"We understand how distressing and unpleasant this kind of flooding can be and we'd like to apologise for any delay in responding to calls and thank everyone for their patience as we work to get things back to normal."

It led one resident to say their village would end up 'swimming in sewage.'

Water company staff had spent two days last year transporting the sewage away while they worked on fixing the pumps.
