Mrs Baldwin's also raised her concerns about the lack of progress in the development of two permanent flood protection projects in Tenbury Wells and Severn Stoke.

She called on Mr Moore to help initiate both endeavours without delay.

Since 2010 Mrs Baldwin has called for successful flood programmes in areas such as Upton-upon-Severn, Kempsey, Pershore and Uckinghall.

Furthermore, she has promised to asked the Department for support for the two remaining active ventures.

Mrs Baldwin recently met residents and businesses affected by Storm Henk to see how they were coping after the second flood of the winter season, and met with Worcestershire County Council's leader and chief executive.

A second compensation scheme has been launched by the Government following Storm Henk, supplementing the assistance provided after Storm Babet.

Mrs Baldwin urged residents and commercial enterprises affected by either or both disruptions to lodge their claims with their district council.

She said: "I am grateful for the Minister’s time to allow me share some of my constituents concerns about the lack of progress on the schemes planned for Tenbury Wells and Severn Stoke and I am reassured that he joins me urging swift action.

"I have pledged to do all I can to get spades in the ground at both locations and the Government shares my eagerness to see work progress."

She added: "Flooding is a terrible blight and it will happen in West Worcestershire again and again.

"I’ve been fighting for proper local flood defences ever since I was first elected and I don’t plan to stop while there are workable permanent flood schemes on the table."
