A Glastonbury musical story teller renowned for his interactive performances is set to perform live at The Marr's Bar.

Nick Parker, a veteran of over 30 years who performs an eclectic blend of folk, rock and satire, will take to the stage with his band The False Alarms on Sunday, March 3.

Starting his gigging career in his early teens, Parker first emerged onto the music scene playing mandolin and singing in the folk/rock/skiffle band Why?.

After a decade of touring hundreds of venues across the UK and Europe, he launched the guitar band ‘Tobermory’.

Parker embarked on his solo career in 2010 and has since released four albums: 'The King of False Alarms' in 2010, 'Angry Pork and the Occasional Bird' in 2024, 'Besta Venya' in 2017, and most recently ‘Make Siddowda’ in 2020, which features tracks recorded during a live gig in Worcester.

Over the years, Parker has shared the stage with prominent musicians, including The Wedding Present, Bright Eyes, and Frank Turner, among others.

The artist has also provided tour support for well-known bands like The Levellers and Ginger Wildheart & the Sinners.

Parker’s music is characterised by his cheeky and uplifting songs, which feature an element of playful self-satire.

He encourages audience participation in his performances, inviting them to contribute sound effects, basslines, and even duets.

While Parker can often be seen performing solo, his band ‘Nick Parker and the False Alarms’ adds a variety of instruments to their performances, ranging from the fiddle to the accordion.

The band’s most recent addition is the multi-instrumentalist John Leonard.

Parker and his various line-ups have become a regular feature at many festival events, the highlight of which was the main stage at the Beautiful Days festival in August 2019.

Off the stage, Parker has also put his creativity into producing videos for his songs.

His work was recently featured on Levellers' latest album 'Peace'.

The Worcester performance follows Parker’s solo tour of Europe.

The event kicks off at 7pm, with advance tickets available at £12 and tickets on the day priced at £15.
