A new production of a William Shakespeare comedy classic will visit Malvern for a five-night run in April.

The Everyman Theatre Company will be staging their latest production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' from Tuesday 2 to Saturday April 6 at Malvern Theatres.

The show promises a fresh and original take, featuring renowned comedy clown Tweedy in the role of Bottom.

Tweedy, known for his slapstick performances during his 15 year tenure with Giffords Circus, will also act as comedy advisor for the performance.

His distinctive humour promises to add a lively twist to the Shakespeare classic.

The production also stars Jeremy Stockwell, who previously starred alongside Tweedy in the Everyman Theatre Company's 2019 production of Waiting for Godot, will be taking on the role of Puck.

The cast also includes Troy Alexander, Natalie Winsor, Oliver Brooks, Thomas Nelstrop, Laura Noble, Nadia Shah, Emmeline Braefield, and Ross Telfer.

Paul Milton, creative director at the Everyman Theatre and director of the show, said: "Our aim is to create an accessible Shakespeare show that will appeal to a present-day audience.

"If you're a great Shakespeare fan you will still get a lot of the classic text, but if you're new to Shakespeare we want to make it as simple to understand as possible.

"Throw in Tweedy’s physical slapstick, and we think this is a really enjoyable show for everybody, especially families and students.”

In an enchanted Athenian forest, the plot will follow the mishaps of four young lovers and the meddling of mischievous fairies in a magical tale of love, mistaken identity and reconciliation.

Tickets are now available for 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' and can be booked either through Malvern Theatres' official website or by calling the Box Office at 01684 892277.
