THE blight of fly-tipping at a city beauty spot has been on the radar of a councillor who organises regular litter picks to tackle the issue head-on.

Cllr Jill Desayrah, the city councillor for Warndon, took part in a litter pick at Gorse Hill on Sunday.

The Labour councillor said: "We did one of the first litter picks on Gorse Hill on Sunday. The dumped mattress is about to be picked up by the city council.

"It’s a potential beauty spot popular with dog walkers that is also blighted by fly tipping and rubbish dropping. In order to try to maintain it in future regular picks are planned there. If it’s kept in better order it may discourage some of anti-social behaviour that it can attract."

Last June we reported how the councillor filled her car twice over during a litter pick in the ongoing battle against fly-tipping.

The Labour councillor said Chedworth Drive was consistently a hotspot for fly-tipping.

Two stray supermarket trolleys from Sainsbury’s were 'repatriated' as part of the cleanup.

Cllr Desayrah has also supported pop-up tips in Warndon.
