A SUCCESSFUL pantomime production helped raise more than £2,000 for charity.

The Powick Players put on a magical carpet ride with six sell-out shows of Aladdin at Worcester's Nunnery Wood High School.

The performances created 1,680 smiling faces and over £2,000 for Worcester's St Richard's Hospice.

Players took the city by storm with its most successful pantomime to date.

After a bold move to the Spetchley Road school’s Studio Theatre, the cast and crew had a challenge on their hands but they exceeded expectations in the classic show.

A Players spokesperson said: "After months of hard work, the vision of director and producer Jake Heaton was brought to life with a wonderful stage set, spectacular lighting and sound, amazing costumers, fabulous Harlequin dancers and brilliant performances from principals and chorus alike.

"With a fantastic script and creative humour, the performance had the audience laughing from start to finish.

"Amongst many fantastic reviews, one audience member said that it was 'as good an any professional pantomime'.

"Powick Players are proud to have supported and raised money for a local cause close to their heart, St Richard’s Hospice, supporting patients and families with end-of-life care."

Whilst the curtain is down on this year’s production of Aladdin, the cast and crew are looking forward to starting work on their next production Beauty and the Beast which will be coming in 2025.
