A MAN was found dead in a car in a retail park which was cordoned off for most of the morning.

Ambulance crews were called to a medical emergency at Blackpole Retail Park at 9.55am this morning (Monday).

It was soon discovered that the man could not be saved and he was confirmed dead at the scene by ambulance crews.

"Initial enquiries would suggest the death is not thought to be suspicious and there is no third-party involvement.

"A cordon is currently in place whilst police deal with the incident."

An eyewitness said there is a large police presence at the retail park with a cordon currently in place at the retail park between Greggs and Costa.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "The retail park is now open again."

However, they added there was "no update at the moment" regarding the incident.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a medical emergency at a car park off Blackpole Road in Worcester at around 9.55am.

"Three ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a man in a car.

"Sadly, it quickly became clear that he could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene."

The police cordon in place which covered the left corner of the car park outside Costa Coffee and Consol Tanning Studio was removed later in the afternoon before 3pm.

Access to the retail outlets was also restricted while detectives and police officers were on the scene.

Two police cars and a police van were seen blocking the vehicle.
