A CITY student has triumphed in a national schools’ fashion competition.

RGS Worcester pupil Frankie Reed was selected as the winner in Fashion Icon which was open to all aged 13 to 18.

The competition, organised by ICHF Events, tasks participants each year to explore a unique theme.

This year’s was For the Love of Vivienne which saw entrants explore the creative fashions inspired by the iconic designer Dame Vivienne Westwood.

Frankie, a lower sixth student, captured the attention of judges with her impeccably-crafted design sheets and mesmerising final catwalk piece in Birmingham.

Renowned designer and colleague of Dame Vivienne, judge David Morrish, commended Frankie’s innate talent shown through her thorough research and designs.

Her final masterpiece was shown on the catwalk leaving the judges unanimous in their decision to award her the coveted first place.

Proud head of textiles at RGS Worcester, Jo Bishop, said: “Frankie’s success in the Fashion Icon Competition: For the Love of Vivienne at The Fashion, Embroidery and Stitch Show at The NEC is truly commendable.

“Her design sheets and final catwalk piece were exceptional.

“We are incredibly proud of Frankie and her remarkable accomplishments,”

Frankie’s triumph is the second year in a row that a pupil from the school has won the national competition, demonstrating the school’s abilities and teaching in textiles.
