FIRE crews were left to douse out flames after a car caught fire in Worcester. 

The fire brigade were called to the incident at 9.07pm yesterday evening (Wednesday).

A small vehicle had caught fire on Newtown Road in Worcester, leaving firefighters to tackle the blaze.

The fire crew used breathing apparatus and a horsereel to put out the fire within 30 minutes.

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew from Worcester Fire Station was called at 21:07 on 3 April to a small vehicle on fire in Newtown Road, Worcester.

"A car was on fire and this was extinguished by a firefighter wearing breathing apparatus and using a hosereel. Police (log 442i) also attended.

"The incident was marked as pending closure at 21:42.

West Mercia Police said enquiries are still ongoing regarding the incident.

"We were called to a report of arson of a vehicle on Newtown Road in Worcester at around 9pm yesterday (3 April).

"Enquiries are ongoing."
