A hospital has marked its first anniversary of partnering with the NHS with a community celebration.

The CHEC Worcester hospital, which opened in the St Martin's Quarter in April 2023, commemorated its first year by hosting a party centred around its staff and patients.

During its first year, the facility provided specialist care in ophthalmology and gastroenterology to over 7,900 patients, and performed more than 1,200 cataract surgeries.

Its services are marked by short waiting times, as patients can access treatment within a week.

Reflecting on its first year, the hospital's manager, Kathryn Irving, said: "It’s hard to believe it’s only a year ago that we welcomed our first patients to CHEC Worcester.

"We’d like to thank the local community for choosing CHEC, trusting us to deliver the highest standards of care, and for joining us to celebrate our first anniversary this week."

The facility has also prioritised accessibility by introducing initiatives such as the complimentary HOME TO HOSPITAL pick up service and an online patient booking app.

Ms Irving said: "Patient choice and reducing waiting times are at the forefront of the NHS agenda.

"Working in partnership with the NHS, we constantly look for new ways to make it easier for patients to exercise that choice and access the treatment they need."

The hospital is part of the CHEC network, which has over 20 hospitals across the UK, including Coventry and Stoke with an upcoming site in Kings Norton.
