A GROUP of nurseries is celebrating 30 years of childcare in the city.

To mark the occasion for Wishing Well Nurseries a fundraiser was held for Worcester’s St Richard’s Hospice.

It was put on in conjunction with city art event Great Waddle of Worcester and raised more than £2,700.

Hosted at Perdiswell Young People’s Leisure Club on Saturday with generous support from local businesses and Wishing Well parents, the day was a resounding success.

With performances from Drumlove, Chloe Allmark and Lollipop Youth Theatre Group, the crowds were entertained in the sunshine.

Television auctioneer Craig Leonard popped in to auction off a selection of donated goods.

There were visits from The Gruffalo, Princess Anna and Spider-Man courtesy of Diverse Dreams.

The total raised for the hospice was £2,724.04 on a birthday party to remember.

The nurseries are based at three locations in Droitwich Road, Bilford Road and Rainbow Hill as well as a kids’ club in Thorneloe Walk.

Founded in 1994, the family-run business was originally opened in Bilford Road.

It has since expanded to include the three nurseries and the after-school club.

Wishing Well Nurseries offers programmes for children aged three months up to 11 years 50 weeks of the year.

The fundraiser supported the hospice which cares for adults with a serious progressive illness, improving their quality of life during treatment.
