A warehouse company has entered into an agreement with the UK's first Hydrogen Fuel Cell truck.

The Memorandum of Agreement has been signed between Pershore-based White Logistics and Hydrogen Vehicle Systems (HVS), with the aim of starting a journey into the future of eco-friendly transport.

From late 2025, the company will be testing HVS Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles as part of a project looking at the feasibility of including zero-emission hydrogen automobiles in their fleet.

White Logistics, which has more than 50 years under its belt since launching, delivers a range of warehouse, storage and logistics solutions nationwide, operating over 150 delivery vehicles from its Worcestershire base.

CEO of White Logistics, Graeme White said: "We pride ourselves on our modern fleet that is optimised for mileage and environmental efficiencies whilst always meeting the needs of our customers.

"As we look to the future, White Logistics will again be at the forefront of available vehicle technology.

"We are exploring the latest developments in alternative fuels and are very excited about working with HVS to understand how Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will support us in our net zero ambitions."

The collaborative project includes the study of hydrogen electric vehicle technology and hydrogen refuelling equipment.

Once completed, the company will be well-positioned to introduce zero-emission HGVs into its fleet, reducing both its carbon footprint and that of its customers and subcontractors.

HVS, headquartered in Glasgow, is at the cutting edge of the heavy-duty commercial vehicle industry, with a focus on design innovation and sustainability.

The company has said its Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) promises exceptional efficiency and performance, with a minimal environmental impact.

HVS chief commercial officer, John McLeister said: "White Logistics’ decarbonisation vision aligns perfectly with our own and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Graeme and his team to integrate our hydrogen fuel cell HGVs into their vehicle fleet.

"We are passionate about helping the road haulage industry to decarbonise faster and look forward to providing the solutions that will help transition the White’s fleet to zero."
