A BARISTA has won a national competition after serving up a unique drink.

Joanne Osborne, a barista from Evesham has won Co Coffee's barista of the year for the UK and Ireland after her specialty drink an Iced Frothy Banoffee amazed judges.

Miss Osborne, who has worked at the company for the last two years, won the award after winning the finals of the competition on April 24 in Liverpool. 

Miss Osborne's speciality drink, named "iced frothy banoffee" set her apart from the rest of the competition with her homemade caramel and banana sauce. 

Upon winning the accolade, Miss Osborne said “I’m so excited to be named Costa Coffee’s barista of the year for the UK and Ireland.

"This recognition means the world to me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent Evesham and showcase my coffee making skills.

"This competition has been an incredible experience and I’m looking forward to taking part in the global competition in July.” 

Miss Osborne currently works in the Costa Coffee store at Tesco in Evesham and will now compete for the global barista of the year on July 2 and 3.

Karolina Kurek, head judge of the barista of the year UK and Ireland 2024 competition and coffee laboratory manager from Costa Coffee said: “We are incredibly proud to crown Joanne as Costa Coffee’s UK and Ireland barista of the year 2024.

"Their dedication to their craft, technical and creative skills, attention to detail and unwavering enthusiasm truly impressed our judges.

"Joanne embodies the passion and spirit of Costa Coffee, and we are delighted to celebrate their achievement.”
