NOW: The same High Street area pictured below in 2024.
The traffic is gone, apart from deliveries, with the road pedestrianised in the 1980s.
On the far left, Russell and Dorrell’s, which moved out in 2003, and the nearby Lychgate Shopping Centre are now split into different shops and the Cathedral Square respectively.
