THE WEEKLY shopping chore for Ned Gibbs turned into a nice surprise when he heard his birthday being announced over the public tannoy.
Mr Gibbs, of Lower Gravel Road, Bromley Common, turned 95 yesterday (August 21), and heard birthday greetings when shopping last Thursday at Sainsburys on Pallant Way, Locksbottom.
Deputy Manager Luke King presented him with a gift and said: “He's 95 and he's one of our oldest shoppers and has shopped in the store since it's been open.”
