Until the end of the season. 5 more Guinness Premiership games and at least one more European Challenge Cup game.
It’s been an interesting season in that the Warriors have shown some potential but failed to realise it. They scored the try of the month up at Sale when they won out of the blue. We staunch
Warrior fans always hope that they can pull of a surprise but even we were stunned by that win. Then they followed it up by beating Tigers as well which was just fantastic.
The game against Leeds was a bit of a let down, but then games that are hotly tipped as ones to watch very rarely live up to their billing. The pitch was absolutely sodden and coupled with a swirling
wind, playing conditions were a bit tricky. So the boys stuck it up the jumper and got over the Leeds try line 5 times, but unfortunately only 2 counted and the game ended in a frustrating
draw.
Now Leeds have a game in hand, which they play tonight (Friday 21st March) so I might tune in and watch to see if they can close the 14 point gap between us and them.
The next game for the Warriors is one that is always relished, Gloucester are coming to town and the match has been sold out for the last 2 weeks. The Cherry and Whites are top of the league and
looking very good. They will have their internationals back after the 6 Nations and with nearly 2 weeks of rest they will be ready for the vert noisy reception they will get as they run out in front
of the Sixways faithful.
The game always has some interesting side issues as many Worcester players have worn cherry and white, Thinus Delport, Chris Forety, Tony Windo and Marcel Garvey. Gloucester have Worcester born Luke
Narraway in their back row, who made it into the England team this season. Making his Grandparents very proud, when I bumped into them in St Peter’s Tesco!
Coming up after that is a ECC ¼ Final, at Sixways against Montpellier on April 5th which happens to be very close to my birthday and this year my age has a zero on the end so my lovely daughter has
treated me to a spot of lunch before the game in the Sixways hospitality, with some friends (a couple of whom have Birthdays too!!) So the game might be lost a bit of a haze of good food, good
company and a small amount of wine….
Now if you believe that you will believe anything!
