YOUNG artists in Malvern have been praised for the excellent standard of entries in this year’s Malvern In Bloom art competition.

More than 100 young people from the town entered the contest - about the same number of entries as last year - organised by the Malvern in Bloom committee and Malvern Hills District Council.

The council’s arts development officer Manda Graham said: “We had entries from all over the town and some of the art put forward was of an incredible standard.

"The art competition is a great way to actively involve children and young people in what has become a very important project for the town, and it really does teach them to have a little bit more respect for the beautiful environment that surrounds them.

“I am absolutely delighted with how well it all went.”

Chairman of the Malvern In Bloom committee and town councillor John Jordan said the winning artworks had now been sent off to the Heart of England in Bloom judges to be part of the regional competition. They will be displayed in Malvern Library, Graham Road, after that judging from Monday July 7 to Sunday July 20.
