THE search is on for Worcester tenants and leaseholders to take the lead and represent their community.
Worcester Community Housing (WCH) is looking for people who want to become a director on their board.
The housing group want people who have pride, passion and a ‘can do’ attitude, along with a sense of community spirit and a willingness to work to make a difference to the homes and lives of fellow customers.
Director of customer services Jean Dalziel said: “We are looking particularly for keen team players who will be able to make an effective contribution to board discussions and decision-making and also bring a valuable customer perspective to everything we do.
“It is an ideal opportunity for customers to discover and develop their personal skills. It could be a great stepping stone to help them move on to greater things.”
WCH welcomes applications from any tenant or leaseholder and are keen to hear from 18 to 40- year-olds and also under-represented groups. This will make sure that the views of all customers are put forward at board level.
To help interested customers find out more about being a board member WCH has set up a board information day. It will take place on Tuesday, July 15, from 10am to 3pm at the association’s headquarters in Progress House, Midland Road.
Lunch is provided and help with transport and childcare costs is also on offer.
Ms Dalziel said: “The open day gives those interested the chance to find out more in a friendly and relaxed way. As well as listening to current tenant directors talk about their experience and how to apply, they will also be able to find out about other ways to play a part in the work we do.”
