A PROJECT to help Pershore people improve the carbon footprint of their town has been launched.
Wychavon District Council will help residents to save money by ensuring their homes are energy efficient as part of PEEP (Pershore Energy Efficiency Project).
The project will see Warks and Worcs Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (WEEAC) carry out surveys and provide energy advice.
As well as the council, Pershore Market Towns Partnership, Rooftop Housing and the Co-operative Retail Society will also pay for the scheme.
Coun Charles Tucker, project co-ordinator said: "The project has two goals.
“Firstly to help people save energy, giving warmer homes for less money.
“Secondly, to reduce the impact that Pershore, as a town, has on the environment.
“If Pershore’s residents each do a bit to cut energy wastage we can make a big difference to our energy footprint."
All homes in Pershore will receive a letter and questionnaire which will be used to help show them where they are wasting energy and which energy saving measures could save them money.
Competitions with prizes and public meetings in the town will also be held, while Rooftop Homes will perform energy surveys at their properties, carry out insulation work and trial a ground-source heat pump.
