AN action-packed day of fun is being held tomorrow in memory of the Worcestershire woman who drowned in New Zealand.

It’s a Knockout will take part on Worcester’s racecourse, Pitchcroft, and is free for everyone to enjoy.

The family of Emily Jordan, who drowned while taking part in the sport of riverboarding, hope the event will raise £10,000 towards the Emily Jordan Foundation.

Miss Jordan’s sister, 19-year-old Lucy, from Trimpley, near Bewdley, said: “It is going to be a great day and we hope to see as many people as possible come along and support the foundation in my sister’s memory.”

The foundation was set up by Miss Jordan’s family, who hope it will be a lasting legacy to the 21-year-old, who was a pupil at the Alice Ottley School in Worcester (now RGSAO) before graduating from Swansea University with a first-class law degree.

Money raised by the event will be spent setting up a centre for adults with learning difficulties where they can grow their own produce and use a workshop for recycling and engineering schemes.

Gates open at 9.30am and the first round of It’s a Knockout – based on the popular TV game show, starts at 10am.

Sixteen teams of 12 people will go head-to-head in the event, which is based on the popular TV game show.

The second round is at 1pm with the final taking place after.

There are a host of activities on offer for people of all ages, including quizzes and a giant size table football.

There is also a children’s entertainer, bouncy castles, lunar dome, gladiator duel and sumo suits.

Anyone can take part in the activities for a small fee and parking at the racecourse is free. A fully licensed bar will also be on the site, along with a BBQ and lamb roast.

T-shirts, polo shirts and hoodies bearing the foundation’s logo will also be on sale on the day.

To find out more about the foundation and the event log on to theemilyjordanfoundation.org.uk.
