The show goes on despite wet weather

A HORTICULTURAL show went ahead despite the wet weather.

Hundreds of visitors enjoyed the Alfrick and Lulsley Horticultural show on Saturday despite torrential rain and water logged fields.

Chairman Bridget Lewis said: “The atmosphere was tremendous and we still had people come along and show their support. The British spirit took over, people donned their wellies and water proofs and came out.”

They browsed the many stalls and inspected the vegetables, fruits, arts and crafts entered for the annual competition.

The event was opened by Henry Sandon of the Antiques Road Show, who arrived despite the floods.

Animal lovers were able to watch the pedigree and novelty dog classes and the tropical island steel band entertained the crowds.

“We just want to thank everyone for coming and for the generosity they showed,” Mrs Lewis said.
