New hospice can give specialist treatment

Comments (0)CANCER patients will now be able to receive specialist treatment in the comfort of a Worcester hospice.
A partnership between St Richard’s Hospice and Worcestershire Royal Hospital will see more cancer patients receiving specialist treatments from the charity.
Patients can be seen for intravenous therapies, including infusions for bone pain and blood transfusions.
Worcestershire Royal Hospital matron Glenis Adams said: “We will be able to offer more treatment for patients by transferring care to St Richard’s for those patients who wish to attend the hospice.
“We have had infusion pumps donated and two of these will be given to the hospice to enable them to facilitate the patients’ care.”
Hospice matron Sally Knowles said: “By working closely together we will be able to welcome new patients for their treatments.
“The hospice is a homely, comfortable and caring environment for patients.”
St Richard’s, in Wildwood Drive, Worcester, cares for patients suffering from terminal illnesses.
