FORTY firefighters are attending a serious fire in the village of Charlton, near Evesham.

Crews from Evesham, Broadway, Pershore, Worcester, Droitwich and Pebworth are at the scene of the blaze attempting to stop the flames spreading along a row of terraced cottages in Yessell Lane. The fire started in a roof of one of the buildings. No one is trapped or injured, but the Red Cross Victim Support service are on hand to help residents.

The lane, off the main A44 from Worcester to Evesham, is closed both ways because of the fire.
