STUDENTS in Worcestershire are gearing up for the annual Army Rugby 7s competition.
Now in its seventh year, the Army Rugby 7s competition will take male and female teams from Worcestershire, Shropshire, Birmingham, the Black Country, Staffordshire and Warwickshire to six rugby grounds across the region, between Tuesday, October 7 and Thursday, October 23.
Heat winners and runners-up will then proceed to the regional finals, which will take place at Stourbridge RFC on Thursday, October 23, to compete for the title of the West Midlands Army Rugby 7s Schools Champions 2008.
Worcestershire will play its match on Tuesday, October 14 at Bromsgrove rugby club.
Sgt Major Dai Davies, event co-ordinator and army rugby coach, said: “Fitness is extremely important for rugby players and there are many physical components which make that up.
“Stability, strength, speed and agility are a few key areas that students can focus on improving to not only ensure a higher level of skill and performance, but to help eliminate the likelihood of injury.”
