FORTY-TWO members attended our September meeting. President, Eileen Williams referred to various events which had been held during the break.

Following the enjoyable visit to Little Larford gardens, a visit to see the display of tulips has been arranged for Easter Tuesday next year. The curling session at Rushwick, with our twinned group Witton, was hugely successful as well as the return visit to Witton when sugar craft was undertaken.

Elgar group meeting is to be held on October 31.

Members were happy to support the shoe box initiative for our forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Speaker was Meg Farmer with a talk entitled 101 children. She spoke about her busy life fostering babies and children and the upsand- downs and incidents associated with this amazing commitment.

At our October meeting we welcomed members and friends.

Congratulations were extended to our secretary and her husband on their golden wedding anniversary.

A reminder of our Christmas dinner and meeting on December 3 at a different venue were explained.

A list of items for the Shoe Box appeal was available. A report on the meeting about the proposed closure of Rushwick Post Office was given. Names for the Elgar meeting on October 31 were requested.

Our speaker Paul McGuire started off the evening with quick-fire jokes which set the tone for the rest of the evening. He had been a Butlins Redcoat and recounted his experiences.
