A 49-YEAR-OLD man was trapped in car wreckage in near freezing temperatures after a road crash.
The accident happened after the vehicle collided with a stone farm building on the B4355 Kington to Titley Road, near Flintsham Hall, at about 7pm yesterday.
The car was seriously damaged in the crash which deformed the front end flooring and dashboard, trapping the man by his legs.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “While ambulance crews worked to treat the man and keep him warm, fire crews removed the roof and the driver’s door and then opened up the space around his legs.
“The cold was a real issue; the doctor had brought a heated blanket with him which made a big difference to the patient.”
The man, from Powys, suffered crush injuries to his lower left leg and also complained of shoulder pain.
Medics administered pain relief and he was stabilised before being rushed to Hereford County Hospital.
