We’ve been swamped with worldwide orders

INTEREST in a Worcester couple’s innovative product has intensified after it was featured on a follow-up television programme to the popular series Dragons’ Den.

Neil Westwood said that ever since Magic Whiteboard was shown on TV for the second time orders have been flying in from all over the world.

We previously reported in your Worcester News how, in the summer, Mr Westwood and his wife Laura successfully negotiated getting £100,000 towards their product on hit television show Dragons’ Den from Theo Paphitis and Deborah Meaden.

They were featured again in a follow-up show on Sunday, October 26 – a programme which took a behind-the-scenes look at the success of Mr Paphitis.

Mr Westwood, said: “We had more interest this time than we did the first time around.

“We were having trouble coping and we were up until midnight on Tuesday processing orders. It’s very active. In terms of orders we have had more than 300 and more than 300,000 visits to the webite.

“It’s really steady now. It’s as if people thought it was a good idea before but now they realise it’s for sale in the shops.

“We are getting a lot more interest.”

Magic Whiteboard is a statically-charged, re-usable white board that can be stuck on to walls, glass, wood and wallpaper without the need of any drawing pins, tape or glue.

Mr Westwood said that stationers’ Rymans – which is owned by Mr Paphitis – has just placed another big order and similar companies are also making enquiries.

However, interest has not been restricted to companies in the UK. He said: “We have had orders from Belgium, France, five trade enquiries from Switzerland, Holland, another one from Norway, and one has just gone out to Melbourne, Australia.”

As a result Mr Westwood now plans to focus more on Magic Whiteboard.

From next week he will temporarily work part-time at his job as head of improvement at Worcester-shire Royal Hospital.

He said: “It’s going well. We are quite pleased with how it has gone, but I haven’t quite got the Ferrari yet.”
