A FORMER Worcestershire schoolgirl who refused a heart transplant could miss out on the trip of a lifetime because of insurance problems.

Hannah Jones attended Whitbourne Primary School, near Worcester, before her family moved to Marden, near Hereford.

Earlier this week, your Worcester News featured the 13-year-old’s battle with health chiefs over a heart transplant, which she had refused.

Now Hannah has one wish that may be her last – to visit Disneyworld, Florida.

The charity Caudwell Children wants to fly Hannah and her family to America on Monday, December 1, for the fully-paid trip with other life-limited children.

But Hannah’s dream holiday is still under threat as the family are struggling to find insurance.

The teenager’s parents Andrew and Kirsty have now called on insurance companies to make her dying wish come true.

“It’s Hannah’s most wanted dream to go to Disneyworld – it will be really nice to do something as a family which we could never do without the nurses and doctors to look after Hannah,” they said.

“But we can’t get travel insurance, and we can’t go without it.”

Hannah was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia at the age of five and suffered cardiomyopathy (heart failure) during chemotherapy.

Her parents said they were threatened with a court order to have the op by a locum doctor before Hannah persuaded a child protection officer to drop the action.

They said Herefordshire Primary Care Trust considered legal action to force Hannah into surgery.

However, the PCT denied the claims, saying that legal advice on Hannah’s case was sought last January but the PCT decided within 24 hours not to pursue any action.
