Gran’s joy as the money pours in to help little Troy

A FUND-RAISING event to raise money for a disabled Worcester boy was a huge success.

The event has so far raised £1,060 for Troy Rawlings, who suffers from spina bifida. A further £400 is expected to be collected over the next few weeks.

The boy’s grandmother and carer, Sheron Vernon, aged 51, said: “We are so pleased with the amount and I want to say a big thank you to everyone who donated money.

“It will make a huge difference for Troy.”

Fourteen-month-old Troy, of Rodborough Close, Warndon, is disabled from the chest down after being born with the disability.

He will never walk and needs specialist chairs to help him sit.

Although equipment like wheelchairs and braces are provided by Worcestershire PCT it is only the basic model.

Extras like rain covers and tray attachments have to be bought by Troy’s family and cost more because they are specially made.

His family has therefore set up the trust fund to help secure the youngster’s future needs.

The money raised from a fund-raising event at the Blackpole Inn on Friday, November 7, will help buy a specially adapted bed along with other equipment Troy may need in the future.
