A MAN has been banned from driving for 17 months for driving more than two times over the legal drink-drive limit.

Matthew Neville said the alcohol in his body was from the previous night when police officers stopped him just after 9am on Sunday, November 30.

The 55-year-old of Perkins Close, Salford Priors, near Evesham, admitted driving while over the legal limit when he appeared before Worcester magistrates yesterday.

Sallie Hewitt, prosecuting, said Neville’s Volkswagen Polo was stopped by police on School Road, Evesham.

A reading showed he had 76mcg in 100ml breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

Magistrates offered Neville the chance to go on a drink-driving rehabilitation course, fined him £180 and £60 as well as a £15 victim surcharge.
