PUPILS at a Worcestershire school have proved they can be top of the class when it comes to healthy eating.
Kempsey Primary School has been given healthy school status after youngsters met a number of targets showing they could not only eat and exercise healthy but also work hard at personal and social development.
Headteacher Adrian Osborne said they were pleased with the award, which was given to them by the NHS and the department for children, schools and families.
He said: “We have worked with the children to develop a good understanding of the importance of a healthy diet, both through special events and the curriculum. We also have a school council who raise and address issues, PHSE and circle time to keep us emotionally healthy.”
He also praised the school council for their help.
“They provide a valuable role in school, being instrumental in giving the children a voice. They discuss and report upon the things that matter to our pupils, for example, we now have fridges in classrooms and more water fountains.
“The pupils have also taken an active role in devising the school’s anti-bullying policy and developing the playground environment and the range of toys and activities available.”
