A 41-year-old pole dancing teacher has bounced back from a brain tumour to raise £400 for the Worcestershire Brain Tumour Support Group (WBTSG).
Pamela Waterlow, who has been teaching pole dancing for three years at her Droitwich home, was diagnosed with a benign meningioma brian tumour after collapsing at the beginning of 2008.
“Being in hospital for some considerable time I felt I had let my pole students down, so when I did finally come out of hospital I had put on so much weight due to steroids and having little or no exercise I was left really out of shape,” she said.
“My students were fantastic and once I was well enough to start training again together they helped me to begin the difficult road to recovery.”
Ms Waterlow is now reliant on anti-convulsion drugs to prevent epileptic seizures.
The WBTSG was set up by Rosemary and John Wormington following the death of their daughter Frances, who lost her battle against a malignant brain tumour at the end of 2007.
It offers support and information to brain tumour sufferers and their families.
Mrs Wormington welcomed the donation, which was raised through Ms Waterlow’s pole dancing classes, describing her as “an amazing individual”.
