Herefordshire's Miss Whiplash in 22-hour crash ordeal

HEREFORDSHIRE'S 'Miss Whiplash' is seriously injured in hospital after a car accident left her trapped upside down in a ditch for almost 24 hours.

Former brothel-keeper-turned-Herefordshire-duck-farmer Lindi St Clair sustained “serious multiple injuries” after her green Jeep Wrangler came off a remote country lane near the village of Risbury, west of Bromyard, and fell down a steep embankment.

After enduring almost 24 hours trapped in the brook in her upside down vehicle, with serious injuries to her head, arm and pelvis, Ms St Clair was finally spotted by a passer-by, who called the emergency services.

Ambulance crews said 58-year-old Ms St Clair – who gained notoriety in the 1980s after claiming several prominent MPs were among her clients - was still conscious when found at around 3pm yesterday afternoon, but suffering from hypothermia.

It took a further hour for fire crews to remove her from the 4x4 before she was airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham, where her condition is now said to be stable.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival at the scene, crews found a 4x4 vehicle that had left the road and landed on its roof in a brook.

“A woman, believed to be in her late 50s, was found in the vehicle with multiple serious injuries.

“The woman was treated at the scene by medics for a head injury and also serious crush injuries to her arm and pelvis.

“She was extracted by the fire service while receiving continuous emergency treatment.

“Due to the serious injuries the woman had sustained and the position of the Jeep, it took around an hour for her to be removed from the vehicle.

“The woman was treated at the scene and stabilised. She was airlifted to Selly Oak Major Trauma Unit for further assessment and emergency treatment.

“The hospital had been pre-alerted to the woman’s arrival and her serious injuries.”

“It is believed the woman had been in the vehicle for around 22 hours before it was spotted by a member of the public, who alerted the emergency services.”

The accident happened on Thursday afternoon at a bridge along the road between Risbury and Hegdon Hill, near Marston Stannett.

Police described the lane as “very remote”.

PC Simon Prater of Herefordshire Police said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this Jeep over the last 24 hours, or anything else out of the ordinary, in the Marston Stannett area.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Prater or Herefordshire Police on 0300 333 3000.

What kind of a headline is this - Herefordshire Miss WHiplash?
The lady hadn't been rescued 10 minutes and she hits the headlines all over the UK news - not because she was seriously injured after being trapped in her car but because 20 - yes 20 years ago she hit the headlines as a brothel keeper. You should hang your heads in shame for this 'gutter journalism'. One less reader
