PUPILS from across the region were put through their paces when they found out about life in the British Army.
The students from Christopher Whitehead Language College and Worcester Sixth Form College in Worcester were taking part in the British Army’s annual careers event for schools, Midlands Soldier 2009.
Held at MOD Stafford, 6,000 young people attended the five-day event.
More than 100 schools and colleges from across the Midlands, including Worcestershire and Herefordshire, visited during the course of the week.
Students and teachers were treated to a spectacular arena show, which demonstrated some of the work carried out by the Army and gave the youngsters an insight into military life.
Additionally, more than 350 soldiers, representing the 144 trades available in the Army, were on hand at different trade stalls to talk to the young people about their specialist career groups and give a first-hand account of what life as a soldier in the British Army is really like.
Lieutenant Colonel Stuart Cattermull, commander for regional recruiting in the West Midlands, said: “Each year, the success of Midlands Soldier has grown and I’m pleased that this year is no different.”
