THE workman who suffered an 11,000-volt electric shock when his lorry touched overhead power lines has died.
Johnny Davies suffered a massive heart attack after the incident on Thursday, February 19, and had to be resuscitate by paramedics.
The 46-year-old, from Offenham Road, Evesham, spent a week fighting for his life in Birmingham’s Selly Oak hospital but passed away on Thursday.
“He died as a result of his injuries and the Coroner has been made aware,” said a spokesman for south Worcestershire police.
The incident happened at 11.30am in land off Bretforton Road, Badsey, near Evesham.
Mr Davies was operating the grab arm of a lorry when he accidentally touched an overhead electricity cable.
As well as having a heart attack he suffered extensive burns and was airlifted to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch before being transferred to Birmingham.
He remained in a critical but stable condition until his death last week.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) was informed about the incident and attended the scene.
An HSE spokesman said: “The HSE was aware of the incident and had visited the site and is assisting police with their investigation.”
The police spokesman added: “Police are compiling a file for the coroner.”
An inquest has not yet been opened into the death.
