A NEW headteacher has taken the helm of a Worcester primary school.

Justin Schiffmann started in his new position this term at Fairfield Community Primary School in Carnforth Drive, Brickfields, and he is already keen to push the school forward and work within the local community.

Taking over from the acting headteacher David Coache and previous headteacher Alex Wall, Mr Schiffmann, who was previously headteacher at St Andrew’s CE First School in Evesham, said the position appealed to him as the campus was linked so closely to the community.

“Being part of a school which is linked with the community, with the library, nursery and high school is a big attraction,” he said.

“It is about engaging with the area. So it will be great to be linked with that and help build up the community bonds.”

Mr Schiffmann, who lives in Perdiswell, Worcester, said his plans for the school included looking at raising its status.

“What we want to do is give our school leaders the best start for their next stage in their education,” said Mr Schiffmann.

To get to know the parents and pupils, Mr Schiffmann has been greeting them every morning at the school gates since he started.

“This is to get to know them and greet them as they arrive for the day and make them feel comfortable,” he said.

“Success of the school is a joint affair and it’s not just about the children.”

Fairfield Community Primary School in Brickfields was created in 2006 on the site of the former Elbury Mount Primary School.
