We all know what a wonderful place Worcestershire is, and how our county is packed with great places to eat and drink, places where you can find out what’s on and where to go, and places where you can lay your head for a good night’s sleep.
But now the gems of our tourism industry have received the recognition they so richly deserve at the Worcestershire Welcome Awards.
So three cheers to the winners and commendable runners-up, who were honoured at a presentation evening at Fusion Brasserie, Stoulton, near Pershore.
The awards – made after a competition promoted by your Worcester News – are a small reward for the hours of effort that go into creating a successful tourism operation. And it is right that such businesses are recognised. A successful local tourism industry benefits us all. It creates jobs and brings money into our local economy. During times like this, when traditional industries have declined and the recession has cost us hundreds of jobs, the value of a vibrant tourism industry has never been greater.
And, of course, as locals we also get to enjoy the excellent fare served up by establishments such as the Orchard Café in Worcester Country Park and Pepper and Oz brasserie in Malvern.
Heck, we might even push the boat out and enjoy a weekend break at the likes of the Windrush B&B, Broadway, or Victoria Villas B&B, Stourport!
