PUPILS at a Worcester primary school have been given advice on how to act safely around trucks and lorries.

Children at Cherry Orchard Primary School in Timberdine Close had the chance to climb onboard an articulated lorry and learn about the hazards of blind spots and stopping distances.

Year five teacher Sue Badyal, who organised the event, said: “Children from every year group were able to sit in the cab and see exactly what a truck driver sees.

“They also learned about stopping distances and what to do if a football rolls underneath a lorry. It was good for them to see a lorry up close and fully appreciate the dangers that they pose.

“It was very informative and interesting and all the children got a key ring and a pencil to take home with them.”

The DHL lorry was brought to the school from the Shire Business Park in Warndon.
