THE circus is coming to a school in Herefordshire.

The Festival Circus will set up its colourful Big Top on the sports field at Queen Elizabeth College, Ashfields, Bromyard, on Tuesday, July 7, to present an exciting week-long programme of circus training and activities involving the college’s pupils.

As well as learning trapeze, tight-wire, acrobatics, juggling, plate-spinning and stilt walking, pupils will experience the process of creating their own special circus performance, to be presented at the end of the programme.

The value of learning and experiencing circus skills is increasingly recognised within more formal education in promoting core virtues of practice, team work, initiative and personal discipline – everything, in fact, that is needed to become a successful life-long learner.

The Festival Circus has taught circus skills and delighted audiences since 1975, not only in schools but also for groups including the Scouts and Guides.
