ROYAL Grammar School Worcester and Alice Ottley defeated Bromsgrove School to lift the Lord’s Taverners Worcestershire Under 14s Trophy for the third consecutive year.

RGSAO were put in to bat at the King’s School Worcester ground but struggled with the bowling of Bromsgrove captain Brett Huxley.

Skipper Ed Pollock (7), Zac Turley (20) and Charles Lawton (8) all fell to Huxley.

Bromsgrove’s Ben Robinson picked up two more wickets in the middle order and RGSAO were on the ropes.

Harry Greenway (24) fought a rearguard battle but RGSAO closed on 116-9 from 35 overs.

They then attacked with pace and spin. Off-spinner Pollock and slow left-arm bowler Jonathan Dilley took three wickets each.

Alex Hillier (28) and Matt McLoughlin (20) swung the game Bromsgrove’s way.

But Lawton had the final say with another three wickets as Bromsgrove were dismissed for 93. RGSAO represent Worcestershire when the competition goes national next season.
