A NEW programme is helping to change the way that people with learning disabilities volunteer in their communities.
Worcestershire County Council’s choice and control programme offers people a chance to arrange their own budget and support according to their needs.
It includes a range of activities from gardening to coppicing.
Jenny Pitts, the county council’s Doing It Your Way manager, said: “This is a great project which highlights the contribution people with learning disabilities make to their community. Taskforce is helping to break down barriers and show the value that people with learning disabilities bring to their communities when they are given a chance to get involved.”
The group meets on Wednesdays and Thursdays to carry out various projects.
