Students celebrate success at glittering awards evening

WORCESTER College of Technology held its fifth further education awards evening to celebrate student successes and achievements.

Almost 100 students received certificates and prizes in recognition of their hard work and successes.

The event, at Worcester Guildhall, recognised the achievements of the most deserving students from each department.

The awards were presented by principal Chris Morecroft, with speeches made by Dr Patricia Woolford, Chris Morecroft and the chairman of the corporation, Eric Wiles Students were awarded certificates as well as prizes sponsored by local and national companies, including Worcester Group Training Association, Yamazaki Mazak, Andrew Grant, Spellar Metcalfe, Universal Display, Dermalogica and Worcester Whitehouse Hotel. The evening was split into two ceremonies and award winners, guests and sponsors enjoyed entertainment by music technology student Ben Fletcher.

Out of all the award-winners, student of the year went to Ellen Terry. The community and adult learning student won a glass trophy and £100 for her development during her time at the college. Mr Morecroft said: “The array of talents and achievements seen during the evening from young people and adults was truly inspiring. It is nights like these that makes me realise it is a privilege to be principal of Worcester College of Technology, and to able to work with such gifted staff and students.”
