African adventures at school

PUPILS at a Malvern Link school have been finding out about Africa thanks to some special visitors.

Children at St Matthias CE Primary School were taught about African culture by visitors from their partner school in Tanzania.

Teachers from Ngvumali Primary School spent two weeks with pupils and teachers at the building in Cromwell Road.

The youngsters created some beautiful African inspired artwork and took part in special music lessons.

Year two teacher Evelyn Henderson said: “The children not only made some friends and are writing to them in Africa but they also learnt a lot about the country.

“The teachers from the school brought a gift for each of the children – a handkerchief with the symbols of both schools and their flags.

“We have linked with them as many of the schools in Malvern have, too. In October I will be going over to improve these links. This is a great way for pupils to learn.”
